I'm Confused

I’m confused…at which point in the history of the Memphis Tiger football program did anybody ever seriously consider them comparable to an SEC school? I don’t understand why THIS loss to A-State is the wake-up call?

When DeAngelo was at Memphis, they couldn’t win C-USA. Even at its best, Memphis couldn’t get past Southern Miss. So why is this the eye-opening loss? I said it yesterday…the Memphis football program just isn’t very good. That’s why they’re up in arms trying to get this on-campus stadium: It would finally give them something to be proud of in football.

They’re not very good, they’ve never been very good – and with the greatest player in the history of the program, they were mediocre at best. Losing to A-State isn’t an insult, it’s the way it is. Going into last night's game, the Tigers only held a 27-21-5 lead in the 53 prior games. So deal with it, Memphis Tiger fans, your team isn’t very good. Keep Tommy or fire Tommy or even bring back that ridiculous “22 man offense” campaign from 10 years ago…it won’t matter. You’re just not any good.
